Rival Schools
Story:
Rival School
The first game in the series, Rival Schools: United By Fate
( Shiritsu justice Gauken: Legion of Heroes in Japan), was released in arcades and on the PlayStation in 1998. The game feature 2 -on-2 fight, where characters could be switched out between rounds, and the second character could be called out during the fight to the team up attacks like in the Marvel vs. Capcom series.
The Japanese version of the game also include a second disc with several minigame, including a date-sim like game where a player could create a character who went through normal school life, interacting with characters from the main game and could be later used a as a playable character in the main fighting modes. Shiritsu Justice Gauken: Nekketsu Seisyun Gauken(translate into Private Justice High School: Diary of a hot-blooded youth), an update of the game released only in Japan (which was mistaken as sequel), included a more elaborate version of this date-sim game and two new characters.
The story focused around the investigations by several schools of mysterious attacks and kidnapping on their schools. Initially suspecting, and then fighting among each other, the students found that all of the assaults were orchestrated by Justice High School and it's top student. Hyo Imawano. Jutice's goal is to collect as many students for the school in a plan to take over Japan. However, the schools manage to put their grudge and fights aside to defeat Hyo, ultimately foiling his plans.
Project Jutice
The true sequel , Project Jutice ( Moero! Justice Gauken in Japan, translated as" BURNING ! JUSTICE HIGH SCHOOLS"), was released in 2000 in Japan and 2001 in the United States and Europe for arcades an the Sega Dreamcast. In comparison to Rival Schools, Project Justice featured teams of 3 , adding three-person team-up attacks abd the ability to interrupt and stop 2-person team-ups. Like the previous game, Project Jutice included a character-creation mode that came in the form of a virtual board game.
